DUS Gateway Resubmissions Need One Legal Owner
Fannie Mae's 2026 DUS Gateway updates make resubmission ownership a practical closing-control issue.
Fannie Mae describes DUS Gateway as the system lenders use to register and submit deals, track waiver requests and pipelines, and receive Fannie Mae responses. Its Q2 2026 DUS Gateway update added several workflow changes that matter to closing teams, including a required Resubmission Lender Contact for each Reason for Resubmission beginning June 25, 2026.
The same update also references a deal document upload API with a 2GB file-size limit, loan-option cloning, pre-review waiver workflow changes, and earlier 2026 requirements for non-delegated loan document modification memos through the AutoMod template. These are technology changes, but they affect how legal comments, document revisions, waiver requests, and final delivery questions move through a file.
For borrower-side closing counsel, the practical point is ownership. When a Fannie Mae file has resubmissions, non-delegated document modifications, pre-review issues, or waiver activity, the legal checklist should identify who owns the response, what document supports it, which platform submission is pending, and whether lender counsel or Fannie Mae has responded.
A clean DUS closing calendar should not treat platform tasks as invisible administrative work. Gateway status, resubmission owner, open waiver questions, document upload status, and legal comment resolution should sit beside title, survey, authority, opinion, and execution items.
