Freddie Mac Wire Closings Need a Secure-Mail Access Check
The revised Form 483M recommends safelisting two portal domains, while Freddie Mac's instructions flag separate registration paths for user and application messages.
Freddie Mac's October 20, 2026 Multifamily Seller/Servicer Guide Bulletin, M2026-5, revises Form 483M, Wire Transfer Authorization. The Bulletin recommends that Servicers have their IT departments safelist https://secure-mail.freddiemac.com/ and https://secureappmail.freddiemac.com so Seller/Servicers can access the Freddie Mac Secure Mail Portal. The revision is effective immediately under the Bulletin's general effective-date rule.
Freddie Mac's May 2026 Receiving and Decrypting Send-Secure Emails instructions state that the portal is used to read and reply to secure, encrypted email from Freddie Mac. A secure message carries "Send-Secure" in the subject line, and a first-time recipient is prompted to register for the portal. The registration process requires completion of the required fields and a validation code delivered by a separate email.
One detail deserves its own checklist item: secure emails sent by Freddie Mac users and by Freddie Mac applications use different mail systems. The instructions state that a recipient who receives both types will be asked to register two separate accounts, and the email identifies whether the sender was a user or an application. Access to one message path should therefore not be treated as confirmation that the other path is ready.
Before a wire-dependent closing, the delivery team should identify the expected secure-message recipients and message type, obtain written IT confirmation that both domains are safelisted, complete any required registration, and document an internal escalation contact for a locked account or missing validation email. Build those steps into the Form 483M and funding checklist early enough to resolve access issues before the funding window.
